After returning their bike to transition, participants will start the 5 km run by heading east on a hard packed gravel road that leads to 116th Ave(access from Highway 2 is blocked to traffic). Runners turn left on 116th Ave and turn right on 4th St. which leads to the Dawson Trail, running through the Rotary Bridge and to the Brookside Cemetary turn-around. The intent of the Family Relay is to satisfy requests for a relay in which teams of children and/or parents and children can race performing single parts of the race much as a team of adults would do for the TAT and Sprint relay options. The Family Relay will start during KOS swim start and no member of the team will go on Highway #2 and will stay on the KOS cycle and run course
